The mission of Innovate Our World is to find ways to bring together people across the skills and interests spectrum (e.g., arts and literature to science and technology) to work on challenging and complex problems. Solving our problems cannot be done by segments of society working in isolation; what is required is an integrative approach bringing together people of differing skills and interests to work as teams. Today's schools still teach subject areas in isolation for the most part, although there has been a recent trend to integrate some areas in the classroom such as International Baccalaureate and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs. IOW wants to take this movement a step further by bringing together students from diverse interests (e.g., arts and science) to learn and work together so that years later we have a world where the working engineer understands and pays critical attention to the societal aspects of technology and, conversely, the writer becomes technologically aware and can communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences. The student will benefit from an increased knowledge and awareness of other factors affecting their chosen fields and how to work with a diverse group once they have entered the workforce. The teacher will benefit from learning what techniques can be used to become more effective educators. Industry leaders will benefit from students who are "work ready" upon entering the work force.

Innovation is often the positive result of teams working together on a common goal or mission. Inspiration is what drives us towards innovation. Innovate Our World recognizes the importance of both innovation and inspiration and integrates them into our programs and projects.
